I like the way Jason Castro sang "Somewhere Over the Rainbow"
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
Some day I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemondrops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly
Beyond the rainbow
Why, oh why can't I?

Exhausted, Sick but Happy
..
No, I am not back in Langkawi. I just read Lian's and Yean's blog and I am glad they enjoyed that weekend. The exhausting bus rides were worth it, afterall. Lian was coughing for about 2 weeks after that. Aisah had to take medical leave from work because she was also coughing. 4th day after the trip, I went to see my former doctor in Kota Kinabalu (I had flown there after the 2nd day) and she said my tonsils were red so she prescribed me with antibiotics. I had sore throat and I also cough. The only person who didn't get sick was Yean. Being the thorn among the roses, he is sure the toughest and healthiest!

Returning to Kuala Lumpur
Sunday, 4 March 2007
Got to catch the ferry 1:00 pm and the bus at 2:30 pm. By 8 something I was up. The shuttle bus took us from our chalet at 09:45 pm.
The bus ride back was more exhausting than the ride from Kuala Lumpur to Kuala Perlis. Maybe because I was very tired. We got to the Kuala Lumpur Puduraya at 10:30 pm and took the LRT back to home.
It was about 12:00 midnight when I lost myself myself to sleep. What a weekend!

Berjaya Langkawi Resort
Seven Wells
Saturday, 3 March 2007
On our way back to the resort, we stopped over at the 7 wells (Telega Tujuh). The 7 wells is considered a marvel because it flows down to 7 pools. We were told that we have to walk quite a distance to the waterfall. We decided to come back later. Lian and Yean went back. Aisah and me decided to explore the resort we stay, instead.

Island Hopping (3)
Saturday, 3 March 2007
Pulau Beras Basah (Wet Rice Island) - our 3rd and last stop island hopping. I read about it as an island of white sandy beaches with cyrstal clear water, ideal for swimming, sunbathing, relaxation, parasailing and banana boats. Lian and Yean went swimming. Aisah and me just relaxed and watched people swam, sunbath and parasailing.
We were one of the few boats that arrived first but as the time goes, more people joined the crowd. I don't like the sun. It was hot! And it was humid as well.

Island Hopping (2)
Saturday, 3 March 2007
I didn't get to visit the Eagle Square but I get to see life eagles flying here on this island - our 2nd stop island hopping. The boatman took us there and we just watch the eagles flying around us for at least 15 minutes. I didn't see them when we were approaching the island but when the boat stopped the birds flew around us.
Can you see them in these pictures?

Island Hopping (1)
Saturday, 3 March 2007
I thought I could sleep a little longer this morning! Yean forgot to tell us last night that we were going for island hopping at 9 am! The fare has been paid already! Less an half an hour and we had to be outside waiting for the shuttle bus, and then drive to board the boat.
To the boat
First stop: Pulau Dayang Bunting (Island of the Pregnant Maiden)
The way down to the Tasik Dayang Bunting (Lake of the Pregnant Maiden)
For those who don't dare to jump into the lake can swim in the pool instead - didn't see anyone there. It would be ashamed not to jump into the lake if we have come so far - for those who wants to swim of course.
In the lake
Aisah and me were tired walking through the jungle and down the cemented steps, which lead us to the lake. It was in the middle of day and it was hot. Lian and Yean had prepared to swim. We didn't and furthermore Aisah didn't feel well, so we decided to stop at the shed instead and just relax. We could see people at the lake from there.
There were sign board warning us not to carry plastic bags of food while walking because the monkeys would grab them. I didn't think it would attract them in the shed also.
I had taken out my plastic bag of nuts and the next thing I knew, there were 2 monkeys near the shed. Aisah quickly took her straw hat and cover the 2 plastic bags. Unfortunately part of one plastic bag showed. One monkey grabbed that plastic and ran quickly up a nearby tree. I quickly retrieve the other plastic bag below the hat and zipped into my shoulder bag. The monkey threw down the plastic bag it had taken earlier on, came down and look around the shed.
There were then 6 people in the shed. A Greece couple took the opportunity to throw some food to them and kept them busy running for them. Because of this incident, I must say I was scare when I saw some more monkeys that afternoon.
1 hr is almost up. We had to go back to the boat. On the way back, saw this unusual tree along the way.

The Field of Burnt Rice
Friday, 2 March 2007
Where to go next? We didn't plan to visit this place but since we were passing, why not? There were as usual many stalls there, selling clothes, like you see at any tourist centres.
We found ourselves visiting a historical site - the field of burnt rice. The burnt rice were found in the compound of this house
There were 2 boxes displayed at the information board. The left box contained burnt rice while the right box is for donation.

Langkawi Cable Car
Friday, 2 March 2007
The reason why we visited Oriental Village - the cable car. We are going for the 2.2 km cable car ride so that we could we see the whole island from the top.
That is Lian and Yean walking ahead into the building, to purchase the ticket.
Going up the Mount Machincang. There was 1 middle station before reaching the top. We didn't stop there.
Lian and Yean went to explore the 2.5 km trek that links to Telega Tujuh (Seven Wells) while Aisah and me relaxed and enjoyed ourselves on the top station. We met 2 professional artists there painting and drawing.
